GUIDE TO THE ANALYSIS OF
THE WORKPLACE EMPLOYEE
RELATIONS SURVEY 1998

A  90-page Guide to the Analysis of the Workplace Employee Relations Survey 1998 is available to view and download from this page.

The guide contains chapters on the following topics:

-> Necessary preparation before beginning your analysis
-> Finding your way around the WERS98 data files
-> Weighting and its implications for univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis
-> The production of high quality tables
-> Combining data from separate files for linked analysis
-> Acknowledging the use of the WERS98 data in publications.

Note: Chapter 4 of the Guide, which covers the issue of weighting, should be read in conjunction with the more recent paper by Susan Purdon and Kevin Pickering on 'The Use of Sampling Weights in Analysis of the 1998 Workplace Employee Relations Survey', published in July 2001. Users who are interested in the impact of the complex sample design should also consult our recalculated design factors (DEFTs).

Please note that the guide is intended to be printed double-sided on A4 pages. Due to this there are a number of blank pages in the Acrobat® file.
