As the Carolean era commences with King Charles III being formally crowned, this event featured a discussion between Eshe Nelson (New York Times) and Russell Jones, as he examined the themes in his latest book “The Tyranny of Nostalgia: half a century of British economic decline”.

With policymakers unwilling, or unable, to let go of the past where Britain was an economic superpower, Russell’s narrative commences in the 1970s and works through the major political and economic events of the last half century. For each, he seeks to understand the role each administration played and the problems that they tried to solve, as they sought to return the country to its supposed former glories.
