The dynamics of public and private sector wages, pay settlements and employment

Using a new dataset on sector-level earnings, pay settlements and cross-sectoral employment flows in the United Kingdom, and focussing in particular on the private and the public sector, this project aims to address three important questions: 1) Which sector leads and which sector follows in terms of earnings determination?, 2) What determines the size of wage spillovers across sectors?, 3) What is the impact of pay on employment flows?
