Evaluation of the Troubled Families programme

Methods There are multiple strands to the research, exploring the way in which the programme is delivered by local authorities, the impact of the intervention on families and the cost-effectiveness of the initiative.  The consortium of independent research organisations responsible for evaluating the Troubled Families programme is lead by Ecorys.  NIESR’s role is to use pre-existing data sources to establish the causal impact of the programme on a range of different outcomes that the intervention seeks to effect. Timescale and funding The Troubled Families programme began in April 2012.  The evaluation commenced in February 2013 and was completed at the end of 2015.  It is funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Local Government Association.
