Summary & aims

This project was a literature review on the recruitment of workers into low paid occupations and industries. It covered the main recruitment methods used; whether these vary in practice for different protected groups; the role and impact of recruitment agencies; and both the initial entry of individuals into low paid occupations and industries and their re-entry after a period outside the labour market.

Methodology

This project was a rapid evidence review, focusing on evidence relevant to England, Scotland and Wales. It also seeks to cover all protected characteristics as identified by the 2010 Equality Act.

The review is funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). It began in January 2020 and was completedĀ in March 2020.
