Understanding work-life balance in Scotland

Summary & aims

This project, commissioned by Working Families, is exploring the potential and limitations of two British surveys, namely the Workplace Employment Relations Study and the Work-Life Balance Survey series, for furthering understanding of issues relating to work-life balance in Scotland.

Methodology

The Workplace Employment Relations Study is a series of surveys that aim to provide a nationally representative account of the state of employment relations and working life in Britain. The Work-Life Balance Survey series covers a range of issues relating to work-life balance, including availability, demand for and usage of arrangments to facilitate work-life balance. This project is exploring the potential and limitations of both survey series in establishing a baseline of work-life policy, practice and perception in Scotland.

This work has been commissioned by Working Families and will be completed in summer 2015.
