Nick Oulton

Research interests:
A former Senior Economist at the Bank of England, he is a member of the Centre for Macroeconomics at the LSE, and a Fellow at the ONS. His research has focused on productivity at the firm, industry and country level, particularly in developing better measures of the impact of information and communication technology.
Nicholas Oulton has published over 50 articles in academic journals and books, as well as a number of reports, and he is the co-author of a book on UK productivity. He is currently a member of the Centre for Macroeconomics at the London School of Economics and a Fellow at the Office for National Statistics. Previously he was a Senior Economist at the Bank of England and before that a Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute for Economic and Social Research. Before joining NIESR in 1987 he lectured at Lancaster University. More recently he was a visiting professor in the Department of Economics at University College London. His research focuses on productivity at the firm, industry and country level. He has also worked on comparing levels of productivity and living standards across countries.
