Originally formed with a collection of 1,200 books in 1939, soon after NIESR was established, the library today is home to a wealth of resources that covers the disciplines of economics and social science. There are approximately 4,000 books, 30+ archived journal titles and an archive of UK and International Statistics, as well as access to a range of online resources and journals.

All current staff members, research fellows and visitors can make use of the library service, either by borrowing from our extensive catalogue or by submitting a research request. To visit the library in person, please contact us to arrange a suitable time.

NIESR’s specialist library was founded in 1939 soon after the Institute was established, with a collection of some 1,200 books.
