This report presents findings from the 2009 Employers' Pension Provision Survey (EPP 2009). The survey was the eighth in a series, with previous surveys having been conducted in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007.

The principal aim of the report is to describe the extent and nature of pension provision among private sector employers in Britain in 2009. In respect of the extent of provision, the report covers the proportions of firms providing pensions and the extent of employee membership of employer pension schemes. In respect of the nature of pension provision, the report covers the types of provision, joining mechanisms and contribution rates. The report also outlines the main reasons for provision or non-provision of pensions and examines recent and planned changes in provision.
Comparisons are also made with findings from the 2007 survey for key topics of interest.
