Improving Working Memory. Randomised control trial of an intervention to improve working memory as a means of increasing attainment of low-achieving primary school children (EEF)
Mathematical Reasoning. Randomised control trial of an intervention to enhance understanding of the mathematics fundamentals in order to increase attainment in maths among primary school children (EEF)
Growing Learners. Randomised control trial of “mindset”; an approach that encourages pupils to not be limited by what they perceive as innate inabilities but instead to become resilient learners (EEF)
Programme of research into adult English and Maths. Randomised control trial of the relative effectiveness of blended learning and face-to-face tuition on skills as measured in administered tests; large-scale longitudinal survey of learners. (BIS) .
Evaluation of HMP Peterborough Social Impact Bond. Propensity score matching evaluation of Peterborough Prison's "One Service", as a means of determining payment of the world's first Social Impact Bond (MoJ).
The impact of the Work Programme on young people. Regression discontinuity estimator of the effect of Work Programme back to work services on employment as observed in DWP/HMRC administrative data (DWP).
Relative effectiveness of Work Programme providers. Exploiting the randomisation of Work Programme participants to local providers in order to assess the delivery factors driving performance, using DWP administrative and survey data (DWP).
Evaluation of Traineeships. Instrumental variable and matching estimators to estimate the impact of Traineeships on young people's learning and employment outcomes, using administrative data from DWP/HMRC and BIS (BIS).
Intergenerational factors in the life chances and wellbeing of young people. Examination of variations in well-being across migrant generation and ethnic group, using Understanding Society; instrumental variables estimates of the effect of parental education on child's attainment, using the NCDS and BCS. (ESRC, part of LLAKES centre).
