David graduated with a PhD from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2002, before taking up a position at Oxford University after which he moved to Imperial College Business School where he was promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer in the Finance and Accounting Group in 2008. In 2011 he took up a position as Retirement Policy Specialist at the National Treasury in Pretoria, South Africa, where he assists with the design and implementation of changes to the South African retirement system. In 2013 he became a Visiting Fellow at the National Institute for Economic and Social Research in London. He continues to research and lecture in many areas of the economics and finance of pensions.
